2. FEEL THE RUSH

Bangui Windmills  are considered as Southeast Asia’s biggest wind turbines. They are located in Ilocos Norte are 20 beautiful windmills or wind turbines which resemble giant electric fans. Each wind turbine has the capacity to generate electricity up to a maximum of 1.65 Megawatts for a total of 24.75 Megawatts. The 20 turbines are lined up along an arc manner following the shoreline of Bangui Bay facing the West Philippine Sea at the northwest tip of Luzon island.

The windmills or wind farm is part of the Ilocos Norte wind power project which erected the turbines in a single row, 326 meters apart. The turbine hub height from ground level to center of nacelle reaches 70 meters high. Each blade is 41 meters long with a rotor diameter of 82 meters and wind swept area of 5281 square meters.

Everyone is welcome to see and go near the windmills so as to closely appreciate the beauty of the wind turbines and the Pagudpud beach.

Nestled among endless turquoise waters and powdery white sand in Pagudpud is a seven-hectare exclusive paradise that is emerging to be the crown jewel of Ilocos Norte.

Even before entering Hannah's Beach Resort and Convention Center, one would already feel a sense of being at peace with nature. The sprawling mountains, the breathtaking views of the sea, and the sight of windmills all pave the way for the perfect getaway experience to come.

You'll be finding the place so relaxing and cozy many have to come to see the place and so as you should experience it!If you want a beach spot that is not flocked by many people like that of Boracay, then the Blue Lagoon also known as Maira-Ira Point of Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte is the perfect spot for you. It is said that Blue Lagoon is one the most beautiful beaches of the North.

4. MARVEL

One of the most fascinating and stunning wonders of the Philippines I ever saw was the Kapurpurawan Rock formation in Burgos, Ilocos Norte. Kapurpurawan Rock Formation nestles along the popular Kapurpurawan beach (called by locals) but really the spot is along the Bangui Bay. The term ‘kapurpurawan’ is an Ilocano word which means white. It looks like a boat at the top of that spot. Amazing how nature and years and years of forces of the water, current and waves formed that wonderful rock. The rocky coast of that beach is totally beautiful. Every part of it tells different story and speaks magical history of the place and time from then and till now.

Seeing this nature’s wonder and the magical rock is indeed white.

5. PRAY THEN EAT

Paoay church is the Philippines' primary example of an earthquake baroquearchitecturedubbed by Alicia Coseteng, an interpretation of the European Baroque adapted to the seismic condition of the country through the use of enormous buttresses on the sides and back of the building. The adaptive reuse of baroque style against earthquake is developed since many destructive earthquakes destroyed earlier churches in the country. Javanese architecture reminiscent of Borobudur of Java can also be seen on the church walls and facade.

The Saint Augustine Church, commonly known as the Paoay Church, is the Roman Catholicparish church of the municipality of Paoay, Ilocos Norte in the Philippines. Completed in 1710, the church is famous for its distinct architecture highlighted by the enormous buttresses on the sides and back of the building. It is declared as a National Cultural Treasure by the Philippine government in 1973 and a UNESCO World Heritage Site under the collective group of Baroque Churches of the Philippines in 1993.

From pinakbet to empanada, Ilocos is home to unique and delicious cuisine.

Try as much local delicacies as you can!

Herencia Café near Paoay Church, cafe you shouldn't miss! The place is very homey and because of the furniture and table setting. There's some unusual yumilicious cuisine like the pinakbet pizza and the longganisapizza. On the cover of the menu it say's Birthplace of the famous Pinakbet pizza the crust is thin and crunchy while the toppings are all fresh and definitely caters to local taste. Order the ever famous Bagnet which is a local masterpiece of Ilocano's too, the outside is crispy but very tender inside with the sides to relish, its just heaven. Plus it has a great view of the Paoay Church.
Laoag is also home to many restaurants serving local cuisine and Batac locals swear by the taste of their empanada.

So, don’t forget to include a gastronomic tour in your Ilocos Norte itinerary!
